This a COMPLETE bibliography of the history-of-science journal Isis (CODEN ISISA4, ISSN 0021-1753 (print), 1545-6994 (electronic)) for the decade 1970--1979. Companion bibliographies isis19x0.bib and isis20x0.bib cover other decades.

The journal is published by the University of Chicago Press, and publication began with volume 1, number 1, in 1913. The journal historically appeared with 2 to 4 issues per year. In recent years, Isis has four regular issues, plus a supplement issue with a current bibliography.

In this decade, Isis published articles in English and German. About 75 percent of the articles are book reviews.

At version 0.15, the year coverage looked like this:

     1970 ( 139)    1974 ( 170)    1978 ( 230)
     1971 ( 144)    1975 ( 178)    1979 ( 266)
     1972 ( 214)    1976 ( 181)
     1973 ( 186)    1977 ( 229)

     Article:       1936
     Book:             1

     Total entries: 1937

Data for this bibliography have been derived from entries in the TeX User Group and BibNet Project archives, and from the JSTOR Web site for the journal.

As time permits, entries for reviewed books may be added to the end of this bibliography. However, the lack of publisher ISBN data in review titles makes that job much more difficult than it should be.

Numerous errors in the publisher data noted above have been corrected with assorted software tools, and by examination of article initial pages. Spelling has been verified with the UNIX spell and GNU ispell programs using the exception dictionary stored in the companion file with extension .sok.

The checksum field above contains a CRC-16 checksum as the first value, followed by the equivalent of the standard UNIX wc (word count) utility output of lines, words, and characters. This is produced by Robert Solovay's checksum utility.
