Publication began with volume 1 number 1 in 1970, by the Institut fuer Angewandte Mathematik und Mechanik der Deutschen Akademie zu Berlin. In 1975, the publisher changed to Zentralinstitut fuer Mathematik und Mechanik der Akademie der Wissenschaften der DDR. In 1977, the publisher changed to Central Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics, Academy of Sciences of the G.D.R. In 1999, the publisher changed to Gordon ad Breach. Since 2003, the publisher is Taylor and Francis.
In the early years, publications were in German (272) and Russian (19), and occasionally, English or French (3). Since volume 21, number 2, 1990, articles are in English only. English translations are provided for all French and German titles; the Russian title translations will have to wait until usable title text is available for them (see further comments below).

The quality of the publisher metadata is poor, with large numbers of errors from faulty optical character recognition, or human typing errors. Although page previews are available for most articles, their resolution is often inadequate to resolve errors. In the metadata, accents on letters are frequently lost, and German nouns are often erroneously downcased. Page numbers are sometimes duplicated (but correctable from page previews). Russian titles are often authorless, and displayed only as fuzzy hard-to-read bitmap images, without usable Unicode text representations. Extensive efforts have been made to clean up the data, and hundreds of page previews have been examined to rectify errors. Nevertheless, it is likely that errors remain, and can only be eliminated by merging data from other sources.
Numerous errors in the sources noted above have been corrected. Spelling has been verified with the UNIX spell and GNU ispell programs using the exception dictionary stored in the companion file with extension .sok.
BibTeX citation tags are uniformly chosen as name:year:abbrev, where name is the family name of the first author or editor, year is a 4-digit number, and abbrev is a 3-letter condensation of important title words. Citation tags were automatically generated by software developed for the BibNet Project.
In this bibliography, entries are sorted in publication order within each journal, according to the order at the publisher Web site.
The checksum field above contains a CRC-16 checksum as the first value, followed by the equivalent of the standard UNIX wc (word count) utility output of lines, words, and characters. This is produced by Robert Solovay's checksum utility.
