Date: 10 November 89 Message No: 021 To: TeX implementors and distributors From: Barbara Beeton Subject: Housekeeping matters On 4 November I obtained a listing of the files in the /tex directories at labrea, and am including a partial list with this message. In particular, information is included for the following: all programs that have new .web files all files related to the trip and trap tests all errata and bug files latex files with 1989 dates most files in tex/lib, a directory that doesn't correspond directly to any directory on score I will try to keep track of updates at labrea, and report them promptly. Brian Hamilton Kelly has provided a list of the sections in TEX.WEB that have changed in this great upgrade. His suggestions on how these section numbers can be used to speed the upgrading of local change files accompany the list below. Thanks, Brian. Earlier today, I mailed out the file errata.five from labrea. This file contains all the changes to The TeXbook and The Metafontbook that are due to the changes for TeX 3.0. This should explain what is going on from the user's point of view. There were too many changes in TeX: ... and Metafont: The Program, so Knuth did not include them in the errata list. The differences list for tex.web, already sent, contains all the program details, and I will send a similar list for mf.web as soon as I can retrieve the file from labrea. I will also send the additions to tex82.bug and mf84.bug after that. We have been having problems with our mail system, especially with delivery to Bitnet addresses. I believe that I am being notified of all failures, so that I can re-send the affected messages, but if you believe you have missed anything, please let me know. Conversely, an acknowledgement of messages received will be welcome, especially until the mailer problems are solved. ######################################################################## Selected In addition, the system-dependent part is now numbered 1379 instead of 1376 because of the addition a a few sections at the end of the program. Now if some kind soul would like to do the same for MF, I'd be very grateful!!
