This 2.99.10 is the fourth (and hopefully last) release candidate of
teTeX-3.0. There have been several issues with 2.99.9 which made this
new test release necessary. Just in time, Tomas Rokicki could fix some
long standing bugs in dvips, so I decided to add these fixes.

Some things to note:

* Documentation:
================
  - I have put up the content of texmf-dist/doc and files from
    tetex-src (INSTALL, QuickInstall, NEWS) to the tug.org webserver.
    This allows people to see which packages are included in teTeX or
    what they need for installation without downloading much.
  - The new documentation can be reached via the new teTeX homepage
    http://tug.org/teTeX/index-3.0.html (which will be available as
    http://tug.org/teTeX/ as soon as 3.0 is out) and via links in the
    ANNOUNCE-3.0 file.
  - TETEXDOC might have some interesting information for you. And, I'd
    be grateful for any improvements (typos etc., I am no native speaker)

* "Risky" changes in dvips
==========================
There have been quite some significant changes to dvips regarding font
subsetting, eepic specials and omega support. Tomas Rokicki has done these
changes with great care, but this version needs some special attention.
Test as much as you can and report bugs (to tex-k@tug.org) quickly.
*Don't* use this version for any production until it has proven to be
good. If you can do extensive tests (e.g. if you have lots of documents
which embed graphics or use eepic or are generated by omega/aleph),
please send feedback (positive or negative) to tex-k@tug.org!

* texconfig / updmap / fmtutil
==============================
My recent changes have shown problems on nun-linux systems. Not everything
was 100% portable. I think that all problems are fixed now, but I'd be
grateful for additional testing (especially on non-linux systems).

* pdftex
========
For fixing some bugs in 1.20b, the pdftex team has released a first
beta of 1.20c. Besides a new test for checking if \write18 is enabled
(this change was made by Olaf Weber in tex.ch, so it is available for
all engines), no new functionality was added to pdftex. Still, it can't
hurt to test the fixes.
