System requirements for running texcollection.exe under Windows 7

Microsoft recommends you move to a Windows 11 PC to continue to receive security updates.

The minimum requirement to run texcollection.exe is Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 (SP1) plus the
Windows 7 Security Update (KB3063858) that may either be installed using Windows Update
(if automatic updating is turned on in Windows Update in Control Panel) or downloaded and installed manually.
Alternatively, you may try to run the TexLive or MiKTeX installers directly from the texlive or protext directory
on the DVD.

To perform a manual install of KB3063858 please proceed as described below.


Check if your PC is 32-bit or 64-bit

You’ll need to know if your PC is running a 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) version of Windows 7.
Select the Start button, right-click Computer, and then select Properties. The version of Windows 7
is displayed next to System type.

Ensure that Service Pack 1 is listed under Windows edition, since Windows 7 with SP1 is required!

Select the appropriate language and click the Download button and then do one of the following:
1. Click Run to start the installation immediately.
2. Click Save to copy the download to your computer for installation at a later time.
