TeX Collection 2023 by TUG and DANTE

The TeX Collection contains four TeX products on a single DVD.

MiKTeX

MiKTeX is a TeX distribution primarily for Microsoft Windows, but also supporting macOS and GNU/Linux (the macOS and GNU/Linux ports of MiKTeX are not shipped as part of the DVD). It provides an easy installation even for less experienced users. MiKTeX can install new packages on the fly while TeX runs, a feature which nothing else has. TeXStudio (64bit) is included as the editor (optional).

TeX Live

TeX Live is a TeX system for GNU/Linux, macOS, other Unix platforms, and Windows. No editor is included.

The TeX Live system is located in directory texlive. Please change to this directory and run the script install-tl in this directory to start Unix installation or the batch script texlive/install-tl-windows.bat for Windows.

Further information regarding TeX Live is available in texlive/readme-html.dir/readme.en.html. For translations to other languages refer to texlive/index.html.

See The TeX Live Guide for the list of platforms for which executables are included.

MacTeX

MacTeX is a complete TeX distribution for MacOSX containing all of TeX Live, but with a native Mac installer and other Mac-specific packages included, notably the TeXShop editor. It is in the mactex directory on the DVD.

CTAN

CTAN, the Comprehensive TeX Archive Network, is a worldwide set of Internet servers making TeX software available. The DVD contains a snapshot of the German CTAN node dante.ctan.org from April 2023. The snapshot is located in DVD's directory ctan. You may find further information in ctan/README.HTML.
