README for the (unsupported) concmath package. ============================================== by Ulrik Vieth (vieth@xerxes.thphy.uni-duesseldorf.de) -- 1995/02/28 Hi folks! Here is something I hacked together recently when I was preparing a poster presentation for a conference. There may be room for improvements and the documentation is incomplete, but nevertheless I wanted to make it available, as it might be useful for others. * What this package provides: This package provides METAFONT parameter files for a set of math fonts for the Computer Concrete (CC) font family. To use them, you need to have the MF sources for the standard CM and CC fonts installed on your system. Included in this packages are the font files for xccmi.mf and xccsy.mf at 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 pt as well as xccex10.mf. I also made a Concrete version of the AMS symbol fonts, xccam10.mf and xccbm10.mf, but I haven't tried them myself. The x prefix is used to distinguish this version from the original Concrete fonts, especially in the case of ccmi10.mf. A LaTeX package file (concmath.sty) provides the necessary font declarations to use the Concrete Math fonts. It does nothing else, so you'll have to care about the layout of your poster yourself. * Where to find this package: I suggest to install the LaTeX package concmath.sty in the directory CTAN:macros/latex/other/concmath and to set up a symbolic link in that directory pointing to the actual location of the font files, e.g. CTAN:macros/latex/other/concmath/fonts -> fonts/concmath. I suggest to install the font files xcc*.mf in a directory at the same level as CTAN:fonts/concrete, e.g. CTAN:fonts/concmath. Another possibility would be to use a subdirectory of CTAN:fonts/cm at the same level as other CM or CC variants. * How to set up this package: Assuming that you have a fairly recent TeX installation using the directory structure in lib.tar.gz from the web2c distribution, just install the files from the directories concmath/{src,tfm} in TEXMF/fonts/public/concrete/{src,tfm}. The LaTeX package concmath.sty might somewhere below TEXMF/tex/latex(2e). * Status of this package: As this package was originally developed as a quick hack while in a hurry, it is a bit rough and the documentation is incomplete. Some background information about the fonts can be found in the file HISTORY. The LaTeX package file contains a few comments but there is no .dtx file containing any source documentation. It is hoped that this package will be useful, but I cannot offer to support it. Improvements are welcome, especially concerning the font work. You're free to do with it whatever you want. Share and enjoy! Cheers, Ulrik Vieth.
