This is the file `NEWS' that accompanies version 1.5 of `mflogo'. ================================================================= This file describes the history of the `mflogo' package and lists important changes in the new release compared to earlier versions. * NEWS for the release of version 1.5c of `mflogo' (1995/12/04): Version 1.5c of `mflogo' just fixes a minor incompatibility in the definitions of the |\MF| and |\MP| logos when used in the LaTeX tabbing environment. These changes should be invisible to user. * NEWS for the release of version 1.5b of `mflogo' (1995/09/01): The first public release version of the `mflogo' package (version 1.2) was made available in May 1994, just a few weeks before the release of the first production version of LaTeX(2e), which introduced a much improved internal interface for defining font commands. This version of `mflogo' (version 1.5) now makes use of this internal interface in the definitions of the font commands |\logofamily| and |\textlogo| and it also fixes a minor bug concerning the space factor after the logos. The increase of the version number from 1.2 to 1.5 just reflects the fact that I've started revising the `mflogo' package three times, but never managed to complete a new release. Apart from these minor internal changes that don't actually affect the functionality of the package, there has been one important change concerning the font definition file: The decision to allow creating two different versions of `Ulogo.fd' depending on the range of font shapes available at your site has been reverted. In future, there will be only one standard version of `Ulogo.fd' which does assume that some non-standard variants of the `logo' fonts are available. This decision was made in order to avoid compatibility problems arising from the possibility of creating two different versions of a file under the same name. As it is discussed in the document ``Modifying LaTeX'' (see the file |modguide.tex| distributed with the LaTeX release 1995/06/01), you cannot ensure portability of documents unless standard files with the same name are guaranteed to be same everywhere. An archive file containing all required font files is provided along with this package for the convenience of installers and in particular for those who do not yet have the non-standard variants of the `logo' fonts required for the `mflogo' package. -- Ulrik Vieth (vieth@thphy.uni-duesseldorf.de) -- 1995/09/01
