This is the file `README' that accompanies version 1.5 of `mflogo'.

DESCRIPTION:

The `mflogo' package provides access to the METAFONT and METAPOST
`logo' fonts in LaTeX(2e).  It consists of the font definition file
`Ulogo.fd' and an example package file `mflogo.sty' which are both
generated from `mflogo.dtx'.

The `mflogo' package defines the font commands |\logofamily| and
|\textlogo| to access the `logo' fonts directly.  It also defines
the macros |\MF| and |\MP| for the METAFONT and METAPOST logos
in terms of these font commands, which ensures that the logos will
honour font changes just as the |\TeX| logo does and always did.

The present release of `mflogo' (v1.5) also fixes the space factor 
after the |\MF| and |\MP| logos, just as it is done for the |\TeX| 
and |\LaTeX| logos in the LaTeX(2e) kernel or in the TUGboat macros.

REQUIREMENTS:

This version of the `mflogo' package requires a production version
of LaTeX(2e) dated 1994/06/01 or later, since it makes use of some
features introduced in that release which weren't present in the
earlier beta test versions.

Of course, you'll also need the `logo' fonts themselves to make
use of this package.  It is important that you have a complete and
up-to-date release of the `logo' fonts including some non-standard
variants designed by Knuth and a contributed font file distributed 
with this package.  An archive file containing the METAFONT sources
and the TFM files for all required font shapes is included in this
distribution for your convenience.  The structure of this archive
follows the guidelines of the TeX Directory Standard Draft 0.999.
