Up to Converters from PC Textprocessors to LaTeX - Overview

WINW2LTX

last update: July 28, 1998

A set of macros for WinWord 2, now also available for WinWord 6 and 7 (95)
by Allin Cottrell <cottrell@wfu.edu>

Advantages:
Converts the document structure, i.e. headings level 1 and 2 (and level 3 in German version), bulleted lists and numbered lists, and some of the special characters.
I personally adapted the macros to the German WinWord versions.

Can be found on all CTAN sites, directories
.../support/winw2ltx/english/ww2,
.../support/winw2ltx/english/ww6
.../support/winw2ltx/german/ww2,
.../support/winw2ltx/german/ww6 (new version available, see above!)
(5 files each in uncompressed form - download binary!)
(The ... stands for a host specific base directory, which often is either "/pub/tex" or "/tex-archive")

New German Version 5. Feb. 1998:
Now supported:
Heading levels 1 to 5
most special characters from the standard font and the symbol font.
Formulas can not be converted by this macro, but after its completion they can be converted by MathType, the full version of the equation editor.
Download latest German version w95toltx.zip. This zipfile contains:

w95toltx.dot:
Template for GERMAN WinWord 7, probably also WinWord 6.
NOT designed for, but adaptable to non-German versions.
license.txt:

Note: This macro set is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation; either version 2 of the License, or (at your option) any later version.

Disadvantages:
No conversion of tables, graphics, formulas, most fields.
(conversion of tables is planned for the near future)
Only for WinWord 6 and 7 (95).
