abstract = "Digital entered into an agreement with a major French
bank to develop an automated software deployment
facility, i.e., to provide centralized control of
software installations and upgrades for a large network
of computer systems. Independently, Digital had
developed a set of models designed to guide the design
of solutions to this type of complex management
problem. The bank project team, which had considerable
                 experience building distributed system management
applications, was able to take advantage of these
models. The result was a versatile, scalable
                 application for distributed software deployment,
validation of the models, and a clearer sense of the
usefulness of such models to complex application
                 problems.",
